Susan Davison is an Independent Music Teacher. She teaches piano, guitar, voice lessons, and coaches other instruments. She has served as group and private piano teacher, school choir, band, music director, and worship leader; as well as written and arranging songs for the church.
Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, she grew up in a musical family. Her father was the organist at the First Baptist Church in Managua and her mother sang in the choir and as a soprano soloist; as well as conducted the choir at times.
Susan began her musical education at the age of seven when she sat with her Dad at the end of each church service to watch him play the organ. She was very impressed and fascinated with the intricate organ shape and the variety of sounds. Soon after, she began lessons with her own Dad. She learned to play hymns and some classical music. Later on, she started private lessons with Federico Arens and learned modern popular songs and jazz (mostly by ear). As a result, she developed a keen ear and was able to play any song she heard on the radio. During her early career, she became an acclaimed organist/pianist for private events. She also had the opportunity to film a television commercial demonstrating the famous Hammond organs.
After her high school graduation, Susan moved to the United States to further her education and to participate in her uncle’s church where she met her husband, a Michigan State University graduate who also plays the drums. They have two grown children. Her son is a Software Engineer and bassoonist and her daughter is a Clinical Dietician and violist. Both of her children were All State musicians. In the past, Susan has served as an active accompanist for music student competitions, and has also been certified to teach Music at the K-12 level.
She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and has served as the President for the local chapter, Central Florida Music Teachers Association (CFMTA). She has also been active with the Florida Federation of Music Clubs.
