Policy
Attendance
Please be on time – not too early or too late!!! If you are 5-minutes early, I am still teaching so please wait outside until your time. If you are 5-minutes late I cannot make up the time since I have another student after your lesson.
If you are going to be absent, I expect an email or written note (text) or call me 48-hours-in-advanced at least. No late cancellations please.
If you miss a lesson and you are unable to inform me on time you still need to make the payment of that lesson, unless it’s a valid excused absence; for example:
- sudden illness
- family emergency
- official school or church activity
Due to the tight schedule it is hard to reschedule a lesson and you are still responsible for it, so please no late cancellations.
Please note that a full refund or credit will be issued to students if their lessons are canceled by the teacher.
Zoom Interview & Audition
It is important to meet the family to assess the correct needs. During the interview the teacher will explain the procedures of the lessons and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions. The student will also have a short introductory lesson as well as the opportunity to share their study environment. Each student has a different level, therefore the audition serves as a measurement to select the proper method books.
Lesson Procedure
In Person or Online via Zoom
Each lesson consists of a 60 minutes session that includes:
- technique
- music theory
- history
- ear training
- sight reading
- performance skills
Each student must be on time and be given privacy and quietness during their lesson. Gum, food, candy, soda, and water must be consumed outside the studio. Water is important for singers, so it is acceptable with teacher’s permission.
Recitals and Performances
Recitals are an opportunity for our students to earn confidence and show their progress. It also serves as a semester exam.
Each student is expected to perform each semester. We have performances in different venues (parks, hotels, nursing homes, churches, stores, libraries, and hospitals).
My family and friends often participate in the recitals, as well as former students. Our YouTube channel has some videos of our past events.
